چکیده

merization of dental composite materials during lightcuring is a leading cause of adhesive restoration failure, resulting in postoperative sensitivity, marginal staining, and recurrent caries.1 This polymerization contraction shrinkage creates stresses as high as 13 MPa between the composite material and tooth interface2 (1 MPa = 145 psi). This stress can exceed the tensile strength of the enamel and result in stress cracking and enamel fractures along the interface.2 When a composite resin is cured, the surrounding tooth structure deforms due to polymerization shrinkage.3 This deflection can range from 4 to 6 μm, depending on the filling technique used.4 It has been well established that the higher the intensity of the light source, the greater the contraction force at the composite-tooth interface, and use of intermittent or lower light intensities results in improved marginal integrity.5

Evaluation of the performance and problems of general dentists during and after the placement of composite in the posterior teeth in Kerman, Iran, 2016

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Nowadays, resin composites are the preferred material for direct posterior restorations. The present study was conducted to assess the performance and problems of general dental practitioners during and after posterior direct composite restorations in Kerman, Iran.METHODS: 160 general dentists (63% men and 37% women) participated in this analytic-descriptive study. Data were...

Bacterial Leakage Assessment for Different Types of Resin-Based Dental Restorations Applied Using Various Placement Methods

Introduction: Although composite resins have improved greatly since their introduction, microleakage is one of the most frequently encountered problems. This study compared the effects of different monomer systems and layering techniques on the bacterial leakage of Cl I composite resin restorations. Methods: Eighty-two sound human third molars were used. The teeth were randomly divided into six...

Comparative Evaluation of microleakage of Bulk-fill and Posterior Composite Resins Using the Incremental Technique and a Liner in Cl II Restorations

Background and Aim: In recent years there has been a surge in the use of tooth-colored restorations. However, the polymerization shrinkage of these materials can form gaps, resulting in microleakage. This study aimed to compare microleakage by using different materials and techniques. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, Cl II cavities were prepared on the mesial surfaces of 60 s...

Fiber- Reinforced Composite for Orthodontic Anchorage Technique

Introduction: In orthodontic treatment, adequate anchorage is necessary to move the intended teeth. In some cases, just anterior teeth are malaligned, while posterior occlusion is acceptable. Therefore, the posterior teeth could be integrated by fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) to provide a rigid anchorage. This method proved advantageous since brackets are bonded just to anter...
